Vacations

Kerry and I were so blessed to be able to go on an Alaskan cruise in 2006 and then in 2008 we spent over a week in Yellowstone and the Tetons in Wyoming. When our boys were young and at home vacations usually consisted of Six Flags over Texas, Texas Ranger baseball games (we all love baseball!) and various other amusement parks, sports events, and zoos. We'd go camping on the Guadalupe River in Central Texas or Lake LBJ in the Hill Country region of Texas. (Texas is a big state with a lot of different regions). Living in West Texas always made trips to the mountains at Ruidoso, New Mexico convenient.

We were overwhelmed with God's handiwork in Alaska and Yellowstone. Both trips were incredibly special times for us to share together and just be a couple again. One of our great desires is that we not wait until we retire to travel. Too many people wait and then they never get to do these things.

So here's the pupose of this post:

Where have you been that you'd recommend our going in the next year or so? Is the area of the country you live in a place we might like to visit? Would you please give me some details about where to go and what to do so I can start planning another trip. We absolutely love nature. I can take a bazillon =) photographs of God's beauty on earth. (Thank God, literally, for digital photography. My film bill was outrageous.) Kerry loves history so we've really thought about a trip back East . Maybe Virginia or Pennsylvania. But you may suggest a place we've never even thought of.

So please, give me some input. I'd be most appreciative!

Hi Trina,

My sister invited me along on her Alaska trip in June. Am looking very forward to it. I have also had the privilege of being in the Tetons and love visiting the Hill Country of Texas.

You might want to consider a visit to my neck of the woods. I live in the North Georgia mountains, not too far from North Carolina and Tennessee and Great Smoky Mountains. There is a lot to do and see. Beautiful mountain scenery.

Dane and I went to Banff, Canada right after we were married, and it was AMAZING!!...BREATHTAKING!! It was a business trip, so we didn't have a lot of time to explore on our own, but it was the calmest I believe I have been. I sat back, in awh of God's creations....However, if you are looking for something different than snow-capped mountains, I would say to visit the East coast in the Fall!! I haven't ever done it myself, but have seen pictures from other's trips, and WOW!!!!

Hi Trina,
My name is Heather. You recently started following my blog. Thank you so much for that support. What an encouragement to know that you liked it enough to follow. It is through that means that I have found your blog and truly love it. What a blessing.
As far as places to visit, I live in Northern VA and if you love beautiful creation and your husband loves history, this is a WONDERFUL place to visit. We moved 3 1/2 years ago from CA and are amazed that we are raising our children in the midst of so much rich history. Fall and Spring are the best times to visit as humidity is down and skies are blue, as well as the colors in those seasons are spectacular.

Good luck in vacation planning!
God Bless!

Oh my goodness, last summer we went to California and visited Yosemite and the sequoias! I was just talking to some ladies yesterday when they saw the pictures on my wall. I told them it is even more beautiful and breathtaking in person! We praised God so much there! Let us know what you decide! If you want to see pictures I can post some links from our trip.
